Nearly 50% of all cancers could be prevented by proper nutritional habits and other lifestyle factors, but their influence on the tumors of the central nervous system has not been explained
In majority of tumours, the aetiology arises from the interaction between genetic and environmental factors. Many environmental factors are linked to the development of cancer. brain tumours are not an exemption.
Environmental factors constitue up to 80% of cancer predisposition. Chemical causes rank at the top of the list of environmental factors predisposing to tumour development. Chemical exposure may arises from several causes such as lifestyle habits as in cigarette smoking, occupational exposure to chemicals like asbestos and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dietary exposure as in cases of high fat containing diet, exposure to aflatoxin resulting from contamination with Apergillus flavus and excess nitrosamine intake.
The other environmental factor associated with an increased risk of cancer development is the exposure to radiation, where Ultraviolet rays, Gamma rays and X- rays are mutagenic and carcinogenic.
Infections, whether Bacterial, Viral or Parasitic, are recognized causes of the environmental predisposition to cancer development. Infection with human papilloma virus may predispose to cancer of cervix, while infection with Epstein-Barr virus is linked to the development of Burkitt's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Bacterial Infection with Helicobacter pylori is associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer. Parasitic Infection with Schistosoma haematobium increases the risk of urinary bladder cancer, while Infection with liver fluke may increase the risk of cholangiocarcinoma.
Environmental predisposition to cancer may results from hormonal factors such as the association of Oestrogens with the increased risk of Breast and Endometrial cancer.
Many thanks for nice question. I think : there are no proved evidences that show any specific factors such as food or diet is associated with the development, management or treatment of brain tumours yet , but surely working with hazardous materials such as heavy metals and other toxins can do it !
Chronic inflammatory diseases are also among the environmental factors linked to cancer development. The risk of Colonic cancer is considerably increased in patients with Ulcerative colitis.
An association of higher risk of brain tumors in adults with cured meat and fruit/vegetable consumption, the primary source of dietary N-nitroso compounds, is seen. Cigarette smoking is a major source of chemical carcinogens.
Sleep may play a role in the progression of cancer and its growth over time. Some of the factors related to cancer risk, such as the impact of sleep on hormones, metabolism, and inflammation, may affect cancer’s aggressiveness, but additional research is necessary to clarify this potential connection.
A study looking at sleep and colorectal cancer showed that people who had short sleep duration before their diagnosis had an increased risk of cancer mortality40, but this, like many studies, established only a correlation and not causation.
Obstructive sleep apnea is also believed to have a potential role in cancer progression because hypoxia and sleep fragmentation may enable tumors to more easily metastasize41 to other parts of the body.
Many dietary factors are related to the selected anthropometric indicators. Anthropometry is commonly used to measure the general nutritional status and predict health, performance, and survival of individuals. The indicators most frequently used are weight, height, and circumferences (waist, arm). Among determinants of adult’s height are genetic and environmental factors, of which the childhood nutritional status seems to play an important role. Higher levels of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) theoretically may be responsible for linking the growth achieved with the occurrence of individual cancers. Importantly, the height cannot be modifiable, in contrast to body weight.
Hi Dr Ghulam Yaseen . Studies showed that people with stressful life condition, wrong diet, and sedentary lifestyle and those addicted to alcohol, with the habit of cigarette smoking, have higher risk of brain tumors. Males are more prone to brain tumors. See the link: Article Effect of lifestyle and dietary factors in the development o...
don't have research that answers this question. However, I know that each organism reacts in a particular way. For example, I feel lighter after solving a problem, the feeling of accomplishment makes me realize that the effort and stress were worth it. Therefore, stress is offset by post-stress.
Elements of mental growth its strength may certainly play an useful part provided we respect to our growth .
We know a task not easy our mind speak for healthy mind for betterment & growth but inner function of our mind are not that much productive which may help us for healthy guideline .
For every human beings mind is so much delicate so that we have to take for the development with confidence for our nourishment & healthy guideline for our health tumor to make all the attempts to care for all the growth & development of our mind & also brain tumor
People with sedentary lifestyle and with more stress in life are generally more seen to develop brain tumors. Also, a disruptions in the body's “biological clock,” which controls sleep and thousands of other functions, may raise the probability to develop several types of cancer. That's why taking sufficient rest sleep time is very important.

Good question and insightful discussion. I do agree with ur opinions that stress, anxiety, unhealthy fooding habits as well as sleepless nights and brain cancer would have strong correlation yet research needs to prove this.
(1) People with a stressful, sedentary lifestyle and wrong diet and those addicted to alcohol consumption and the habit of cigarette smoking have a higher risk of brain tumours;
(2) Males are more prone to brain tumours; and
(3) Among subtypes, the majority had glioblastoma and the least had meningioma and according to location, the majority had cerebellopontine angle tumour and the least had left thalamic glioma and multicentric glioma.
Primary care to preoperative brain tumour patients should be given in terms of preventing exposure to radiation, avoiding cigarette smoking, providing a healthy diet, and avoiding chronic stress and environmental pollution and postoperative patients should be taken care including avoiding infections by maintaining proper hygiene and providing a healthy diet for their speedy recovery.
Finally, people with stressful life conditions, wrong diet, and sedentary lifestyle and those addicted to alcohol, with the habit of cigarette smoking, have a higher risk of brain tumours. Males are more prone to brain tumours.
There is no solid proof about the association of brain cancer with diet. However the risk of brain cancer can be reduced if we avoid exposure to pesticides and insecticides , to carcinogenic chemicals, smoking and unnecessary exposure to radiation.

Life style factors do seem to determine the overall energy distributions within the body similar to hot and cold currents in the ocean. So if these distributions flows are hampered it might lead to diseases.

This is a very interesting question, but not sufficiently researched today. I agree and support the opinion of the majority of our esteemed colleagues. Thanks for the interesting discussion!
