Do I need a cylindrical autoclave reactor to carry out a hydrothermal carbonization reaction if I use an autoclave meant for sterilization?

I am unsure about the difference between a cylindrical autoclave reactor and an autoclave meant for sterilization. If I want to carry out a reaction in an autoclave system with high temperature and pressure built-in, do I still need an autoclave reactor for my sample?

Thermal sterilization usually operates at 134 deg C. This is not enough for HTC. If you intend to use the system only for heating, the vessel containing your sample still needs to be closed and pressure-proof. Otherwise, the sample evaporates out of the vessel.
