From my point of point teaching method should be adopted in which the student is comfortable as our main aim is to give information and we impart better information in their language as in India Hindi language is understood by all so Its better if we give lecturer in hindi. similarly country to country it varies . Moreover i also add one point for higher education like graduation and post gradation in that level we should prefer English language
Yes. Certain approaches are more suited to the physical presence of the teacher and the learners at one place. However, teaching-learning methods can be adapted to on line systems and modes.
Language teaching methods will definitely change due to the change in the teaching setting, type of feedback, teacher and learner's extra skills in the use of technology and the different communication environment.
Prof, No, it will not change much. In my view, during this new normal, every teacher has his/her own e-teaching method and even all type of learners are adapted to e- learning process.
Yes, it will. Since the learning activities should be changed into online, it may decrease the students' chance to improve their self confidence in practicing English.
I'm not sure it will change the activities that students and teachers engage in, but I think it may have a significant effect on how we implement (e.g. more powerpoint) and monitor them.
Yes, these methods dont have any value in online teaching during the COVID-19 crisis, whereas the E-learning tools have a great role in COVID-19 crisis.
There are a number of tools (video conferencing, online chat rooms, recorded video lectures, etc.) that can help teachers use the same methods they have always employed, however, there are new affordances also that come with a move to online teaching.
The greatest difficulty to over come is not actually technology as many have suggested, but rather, the greatest challenge to online education is access.
Do my students have internet access?
Do my students have access to High Bandwidth?
Do my students have devices (phone, Tablet, MP3 player, TV, Computers) with which to access the content?
Do my students have a safe and quiet space to study?
Can my students comprehend the instruction I am delivering? (This might mean complete immersion is not as effective at first but a mixed language approach would with partial immersion would be required. When practical use is not as readily available then we have to incorporate older methods like repetition and transcription as a supplement.)
These are just a few guiding questions I have to ask myself as I prepare new courses. I would hope that administrators would also ask these questions and help discover access assistance for teachers and students alike.
The short answer: It will change but not radically so. The existing methodologies in the field of linguistics will adapt to serve the new normal.
Acquiring language goes hand in hand with practicing the language in context. If students are allowed to practice the language efficiently in class, it wouldn't matter whether the classroom is online or not. I believe it depends on the instructor and the teaching methods on one hand, and on students' accessibility to online learning facilities on the other hand.
surely, they are being effected, either incorporating technical innovative strategies. Lack of motivation, non serious attitude of the students, little face to face interaction, more work, making an effect on less development of communication skills
Joseph Robertshaw another issue that should be dealt with is teacher' self-efficacy. Teachers who have not received an effective training on educational technologies will face real challenges with any of the tools you have mentioned.
Dear, Khalid Mohamed Ahmed. Most of practices of language teaching and learning are not designed for distance learning. Therefore, when we face this situation some techniques may be no longer applicable, for example: simulation, drama, and some types of group works and role plays, which we considered very communicative and effective for L2 acquisition. Adaptation of the available practices, innovation and creation of new techniques, and revitalization of language learning strategies (ELLS) should be new features of language learning.
I don't think they have been much affected. Regarding the popular language teaching methods, such as CLT, TBLT, CLIL, GTM, the application of them under the circumstance of COVID-19 is still embedded in their own natures. As for me, an EAL teacher who has to deliver online during such a tough period, the only thing that has changed is that I always need to make more efforts to deal with tech issues and proficiently use those technologies to support teaching and to fulfil the nature of the teaching methods I use.
Setting is an important aspect of every language teaching method. It has got much importance in ELT. As setting gets changed, the language teaching methods will surely get affected. Distance learning during this pandemic will introduce certain novel aspects to the currently existing language teaching methods and will, as a consequences, also affect some of their existing aspects.
In general it will be. However, there will be some positive as well as negative impact based on the teaching methodology and learners learning style. The outcome purely depends on the way we are thinking, planning, practcing, excuting the learning process and measuring the ;earning efficacy.
It is a little exces of analysis, is hard to believe that a pandemic could influence the teaching and learning per se, and indirect influences are not diascuss.
Since I am running several online classes, I think online classes can be very useful. Even I, who have experience in both face-to-face and online classes, can safely say that online classes can be even more useful than face-to-face classes and avoid wasting time. Skype app has so many options. You can have a video call, share your screen, and share the audio files. Believe it or not, my students are more satisfied now. You can run up all the approaches by taking onlion courses without any limitations via the Skype app.👍
Right so many applications to use. Education do not depends of the mode of teaching, it will affect only the ones do not find option to teach. Master word is to share.
The problem with most classes that converted to online during the 2020 emergency attempted to use exactly the same instructional approaches as the face-to-face classes did. There was little theory-based instructional design, taking into account research about best practices in online teaching and learning.
It is not fair to evaluate online learning as a whole based on the poor instructional design often used during the emergency.
An important factor to consider when implementing learning is whether students are ready and you will be successful in your online interaction. To determine the student's readiness to participate In a learning line during COVID -19, the Means and standard deviations of the Means must be tailored to the personal interests of the students.
I do not see the problem: distance learning has at its disposal an endless quantity of online tools, which have already been for some time, English or non-English.
Some complications faced by those teaching English language skills and other English courses included writing challenges, speaking challenges, and reading challenges.
