You receive daily endorsements from colleagues you're connected with on Researchgate. Colleagues value your skills and expertise, and you should be positive to value them. Do they take much of your time? Are they calculated in the Researchgate score?

It depends on the number of RG participants you follow. In case of “older” acquaintances, one can even guess their thoughts and case specific attitudes.
It has to be part of our activities here in RG to recognize and appreciate our colleagues what they have done and accomplish through our endorsements. It is gratifying to do that.
Not realty much time for me If you do it on a regular bases or as feedback gesture (as I often do that) then it would not take too much time for you as well.
Yes, It takes some time in having a look to the contributions prior to endorsement of a skill. But I feel pleasure in doing so for my RG colleagues. As pointed by Prof. Kamal, endorsement may also be taken into account in RG score calculation.
They do take time, but I am not sure about "much"--dear Mahfuz! It is a way of appreciating the work of colleagues (aside from the RG score issue)!
Friends, I don’t think that endorsements are taken into account in the RG scores at all. We get a short message from RG that upvotes increase RG scores. I wonder if bookmarks of our papers is even considered at all?
(I remember with some amusement that when Prof Kamal began to follow me he endorsed so many skills. I think that’s very efficient.)
Friends, the thing that takes up a lot of time is answering questions that come into our message box that aren’t directly my expertise. Sometimes I don't answer when I think it won't be appreciated.
I answer when the questions are interesting. I do my best to put in an answer that’s relevant and helpful to all. I don’t always upvote answers that don’t contribute to the question. But there’s no need to downvote when we can discuss!
(Something interesting to ask here; why do you think RG removed upvoting of papers? And, what is the loss when a question is removed?)
Fror me, endorsement of skills and expertise takes much time. But, I am also doing it with pleasure.
1. Of course endorsements take time.
2. It is pleasurable.
3. I don't know if they are calculated in the RG score.
4. Answering the questions consume time, renew one's knowledge, and stimulate interaction.
5. Overall, it connect me with academia worldwide across subject of studies.
The endorsements of skills and expertise take time but this is the time spent with pleasure as it does not count as posted by some of my predecessors.
I agree with @ Ajay, however, the recent follow-up mail link - has that "work flow" of the endorsements in one sheet view, (is now easy as they all are covered) than that in the home page.
Yes, it takes time as everything at RG takes time for, but it brings pleasure! It is encouraging for young researchers. I do always with pleasure!

Endorsements take time, but not as much as the discussions on the questions. However, they allow you to learn more about the scientific activity of the people with whom you interact. They are the foundation to become a follower of a researcher. Finally, it happened to me that some visitors of my profile have suggested some skills of my research which I had not thought of. I would say time well spent, basically.
Dear friends, endorsing the skills has some benefits for some of us. It's a way to appreciate the talents of our friends. And I'm amazed that Profs Ljubomir, Hussin Hejase, Michael Bruckner, and some others have suggested skills for me, and I see that in the Request window. At times, others see us more objectively. And the 3 skills that are most endorsed are likely to be 'correct'. We don't know ourselves that well, perhaps?

What really may need considerable time, is assessing the performance of colleagues working in not related scientific fields. As to my experience up-votes may have a tiny influence on RG score.
I agree with Ieradi´s statement. Endorsing takes time, but not for using the mouse pad, instead it takes time to become acquainted with your followers, their skills and fields. I profit by spending time, not only for new know how, also some times for amusement, new aspects of my world view, and especially to get told how simple my knowledge is from time to time. A good argument to learn.
Nicely said "become acquainted with your followers" Please don't take "endorsements" serious. For me it is more of mutual respect and recognition. Anyway, all my (or your) published works come with few keywords already. So endorsements are mere repetitions and wont add anything more to my profile or yours.
A better question to ask would probably be "what are they useful for, if any!"
Not much especially if one never select persons. It will take time if you scrutinize the skills that belong to a person or not.
I believe there is a relation between the number of followers and the time taken for endorsements. The more followers you have, the more time you spend on endorsements.

Endorsing RG colleagues at just one click is a great way to recognize their skills they have acquired and demonstrated over a period of time. It helps contribute to the strength of their profile, and increases the likelihood they’ll be discovered for opportunities related to the skills their connections know they possess. While endorsing one can be getting more familiar with experience and expertise of one’s RG colleagues. Endorsement also helps keep strong connections with the people in the network.

Unlike some other social media (I don’t want to mention the name) where you can see endorsements of very funny skills like, Spring Cleaning, Counting, Fire Eating, Punching, Drinking Water, Small Talk, Chewing Gum, Eating, Halloween.....etc., endorsements on RG are more sensible, meaningful and purposeful.

Time spent at Research Gate is a matter of a free will! Freedom of choice! Some people do endorse, some not, some people upvote, some downvote, some discuss, some not, sopme of us ask questions as many of us not....!
I do agree that endorsements at RG are "more sensible, meaningful and purposeful." Yes dear @Yogesh, we can not compare it to LinkedIN endorsements!
I agree that the endorsements at RG are satisfying and encouraging but these are not verified, in most cases.

again we are discussing the sense of RG activities like endorsing, reading, answering. I´ve found my decision, I participate, and this activity is worth to be done.
I also think that time spent in RG activities, i.e., endorsing, reading, and answering is a good use of my time.
The time spent on endorsing of skills is what I can spare after hours of productive work on my teaching research. Then it's quite fun to see what areas of research my followers are doing, and who has published which paper, and what new skills have been added by some, that I should endorse. It's time to keep in touch with other RG members. Do you realize that for some days both Prof Mahfuz and Kamal haven't been around? I hope they are back soon.
Endorsement is a great way to recognize one’s colleagues for the skills one could noticed through their publications and other online feedback. It helps contribute to the strength of their profile, and may increases the likelihood they’ll be discovered for opportunities related to the skills their connections know they possess. Endorsing colleagues is a gratifying experience for me that also helps keep strong connections with the people in my network. Though it takes time like several other day-a-day activities, I enjoy doing this during leisure time.

On the other hand, when I see the new skills of the RG members, it can be encourage me to try more to improve and update my knowledge on some of those skills.
Good question! Yes, it takes a portion of my time. However, in more than a few cases. answering questions posted in RG can be a learning experience even for the "expert" responder. Sometimes I come across questions that I find "seductive" even though I do not know the answers to them, in which cases I would search the internet to try to find answers, and after dong so I feel edified.
I have a problem with endorsements of skills. This RG option does not work! Please, try to endorse someone for some skill(s).
I like to endorse people who are skillful.
Skill endorsement reflects our good gesture and recognition to scientific strength of our connections on a social network platform like RG. It doesn't take much time. However, for the last few weeks, the skill endorsement option on RG is perhaps disabled.
Skill endorsement option in Researchgate does not work for a long time. Do you have same experience as I do?
Dear @Yogesh, it is partially disabled. For example, you can not endorse, you may remove previously done endorsements to your colleague (strange) and RG constantly ask you if you have skills that you already have and have been endorsed for!!!

Yes, It is so; RG is repeatedly asking to include the same skills that are already listed and endorsed by several RG Colleagues.
Recently like Ljubomir & Yogesh (may be, since one / two months) that option of endorsement icon in my profile page notifies "Your updates are currently unavailable. Please check again later."
I only endorse those whom I know well, so it does not take much time.
