I follow the link: http://www.basinc.com/products/prices.php?country=usa&title=DigiSim+-+Simulation+Software+for+ElectroChemistry&ref=%2Fproducts%2Fec%2Fdigisim%2Findex.php&search=EF-1663&x=76&y=16, and it shows that it cost $2299.
If you have a colleague who can lend you the usb key, this can help to do some basic work or for training.
I did not try the other software (Carlo Nervi's ESP) and I am afraid I can not help with this issue of comptability. Cheers.
If you want to continue using ESP you could always run Windows XP in a virtual machine - I would recommend VirtualBox, but you could also look at VMware or the Windows XP mode in WIndows 7.
If you're not experienced with PCs, you may find it easier to install Windows 7 XP Mode, as this is fully supported by Microsoft, and there's lots of information on the Microsoft web site (but it does need Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate editions).
If you want to use VirtualBox, then you have to install VirtualBox to create a virtual PC, then install Windows XP in the virtual PC, then install ESP in the Windows XP in the virtual PC. It's all described on the VirtualBox web site (www.virtualbox.org).
With virtual box, you need to have installation disk of older windows (e.g. windows 98, 2000 or XP). ESP is a MS-DOS program (a great one, no question about it) and it is running nicely in DOSBOX (http://www.dosbox.com/). DOSBOX consumes less space on your harddrive and you don't need to install windows.
Great to know sir, whenever I have to do simulations, I used to facing trouble due to this issue have to use ESP on separate systems since I ve changed my Window in laptop, which is hectic. Thank you for your suggestion @Jan Hrbac
firstly, you must have the esp program in the folder (directory) named esp and this folder must be in the root directory of disk C.
Now: close the dosbox program.
click on the the start button of the windows, press all programs and find the dosbox item.
In this item, there is a sub-folder called Options. Open it, there is a file called
Dosbox 0.74. options (the number can be different). Click on it and a file called
Dosbox0.74.conf will open in the Notepad.
Scroll down the file to its very end and there is a text "You can put your MOUNT lines here".
Copy the following lines below this line (with spaces and enters, just as it is here):
mount c: c:\esp
c:
esp
Save the file.
Now open the dosbox, esp should open automatically. If you are unsuccesfull, write me an e-mail ([email protected]). You can also study the manual of the dosbox program if you are.
