Basic knowledge of DNA Damage Reponses (DDR) and their functional integration with the therapeutically relevant immune responses are fundamentally advancing cancer biology and medicine. The 7th DNA Replication/Repair Structures & Cancer Conference (7th DRRSC) February 24-28 2026 will bring together scientists to exchange cutting-edge research findings and stimulate new ideas and approaches to address the critical challenges in cancer research. Conference talks and discussions will center on developing actionable mechanistic knowledge of DNA replication, transcription and repair stress responses and their inflammation impacts suitable to guide cancer research and intervention for biology and medicine.

In my current research field, the combination of DDR with cancer immunotherapy and targeted therapy is a key direction. For example: Research on drug resistance mechanisms: Many malignant tumors, especially pediatric medulloblastoma and osteosarcoma, often have resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In-depth research on changes in the DDR pathway may help us find key molecules to overcome drug resistance, such as inhibitors of DDR-related proteins such as ATR, CHK1, and PARP. Gene editing and repair mechanisms: CRISPR-Cas9 and gene editing technologies in cancer treatment often rely on the cell's own DNA repair mechanism. If we can better understand the DDR process, we may be able to optimize gene editing strategies, improve repair efficiency, and reduce off-target effects.
