Non-exhaust emissions are increasingly in the interest of science. There are numerous working groups around the world that are concerned, for example, with the development of standardized test procedures for determining brake wear particle number and mass. As the interest on the part of the legislator is growing, the developments are becoming more and more extensive.
This platform shall enable scientists to exchange information on important issues and developments in the field of sampling, measurement and classification as well as on technological measures to reduce brake/tyre wear emissions. To make the exchange as efficient as possible, it is necessary that numerous experts gather on this platform. In this way, questions on global developments can be answered in a targeted manner.

The tire wear pattern is affected by various entities.
What i intend to say here is that the sampling rate cannot be determined on the dyno as it would be so ideal. over a chassis dyno or roller dyno the vehicle tires are usually exposed to same steel rollers repeatedly. This leads to very small volume loss when compared to real road load scenario.
On the other hand, it is much practical to estimate the wear particle emissions from the brake pads. The brake pads are usually exposed to same brake callipers (Disc brakes) or same drum element in case of drum brakes. Whenever the brakes are applied, the wear on the brake pads depend on vehicle velocity, mass of the vehicle and type of material used.
The brake on the vehicle is can be imagined as the tires on the steel rollers in the dyno. These brake pads are exposed to same surface of the drum.
