DRR actions are connected to the empowerment and protection of the human. The concept behind the DRR as referred to and agreed in Hyogo and after that in Sendai Framework is based on the Human Security term that introduced in 1994. Check this site and its publications: https://www.undrr.org/
Moreover, make a connection between DRR education and Resilience, Civil Preparedness, and Security mentality.
A master's degree in Disaster Management has been running in Romania for 5 years now, where I have a Disaster Medicine course. If you wish, I can put you in touch with the organizer.
I am a PhD student in medicine / disaster management. What does it mean - a systematic process? Education is very complicated because one type is in university and another style is in the emergency medical services and another by managers side. I don't think it's systematic, and when we sum it up and set it 3 to 1, we can talk about systems education and therefor about reducting risks and impacts.
Important topic. I am also looking at this as developing a course on environmental emergencies and disaster risk management as part of business management education and research / practice. Would be good to have suggestions and recommendations
Is there job prospects in india in the subject? Some Universities are offering masters and PhD in the subject.. however is there a scope going forward?? Like permanent jobs in govt sector? Educations??
Disaster Risk Reduction Education being imparted by Educational Institutions are more of theoretical aspects and when one truly encounter such situations whether being a part of scientific research for cause-effect-mitigation or being a part of actual implementing emergency services. For example, for a particular type of concept which altogether has more or less meaning, is keep on witnessing changing and confusing definitions in various texts by various academicians or scientists. If one closely observes, these keep-on-changing definitions have nothing to do with the actual ground conditions. Yes, the standard texts certainly gives one an idea and so is a PhD/Doctoral Programme that gives some scope to the research scholar/student to understand the basic definitions/theoretical concepts and a case study of that piece of research also imbibes some insights towards understanding basics about disaster risk reduction. Nonetheless, it is one of the type of continuously changing field depending upon a particular type of scenario and geoenviron. Even any SoP/Guideline may not be taken as 100% correct and has always a scope of modifications and development.
Education and training is an integral part of capacity building in the disaster management discipline as trained personnel respond much better to different disasters and will take proactive measures of mitigation and prevention
Disaster management should be a part of high school education then it becaume more systematic I think. The trained postgraduates and phds can be a part of capacity building here and thus contribute nation building
Disaster Risk Reduction Education may inculcate the basic understanding and idea behind the concept which becomes more meaningful for a student belonging to a georaphical area or locale prone to various kind of Disasters and vulnerable to Disaster Risk as possibly these areas are likely to have some case studies in their background which are more authentic and possibly with better recorded details. DRR Education, therefore, renders the basic understanding (academic coupled with case studies/examples) to the student or scholar of the subject. Nonetheless, it is the practice of using the theoretical concepts to plan for regulations, policies etc. that can be referred and practiced towards Disaster Risk Reduction and that way keeping the concerned personnel with desired readiness and expertise during the times of disasters with a view to save both life and property.
