i need to find out the percentage of phases enabled in a heterogeneous alloy system after fabrication and secondary processing. unlike Rietveld refinement processes i need to know if there is any direct method to compute the percentage of phases.
You need to define a representative peak of each of the existing phases, build calibration curves for each pare of the phases and then use it for the calculation of phase percentage in you spectrum. Of course, at any stage use need to calculate integral intensity of the selected representative peaks.
Soumya Varanasi thanks for the answer. was it a universally accepted method to evaluate the percentage of phases? would be helpful if u can mention here such artcles
In addition, mathematical models have been used in recent years with the help of software products (with a good database of electronic data). Such products are: PCPDF-WIN, XRD Analysis, Match! , PDXL Software,
You can roughly calculate percentage of phases using the following equation:
V=(P/Sigma Pi)*100%
where V is the volume fraction of the phase, P is the peak intensity of a given phase in the XRD pattern, i is the number of the phase, and Sigma Pi is the total peak intensity of all phases in the XRD pattern.
