XR is like exploring the imaginary worlds as if you’re actually there and share parts of those worlds in real life. XR makes the digital world indistinguishable from the real world itself. It extends the reality you experience by blending the virtual world and the physical world together. MR, on the other hand, is hybrid reality that goes a step beyond augmented reality (AR) where the virtual world coexists with the real world. Extended reality or XR is just a term used to group all technologies that go between real and virtual worlds under one acronym. The letter X is to be replaced with any of the letters: A, M or V which gives AR, MR, VR respectively.
Mohammad Nasfikur Rahman Khan My thoughts are pretty much aligned with Mohamed Benmahdjoub ; XR is broader term for AR, MR and VR.
However, MR is middle path between AR and VR; AR provides overlay of digital content on physical objects and VR is entirely virtual environment that doesn't align with physical space. MR fills that gaps and provides experience more immersive than AR, however it does align with depth of physical space.
