Dear friends,

Recently, I have reflected about this difference, and if it really exists.

Both activated carbon and biochar are produced via pyrolysis. However, biochar is/was usually not activated or treated (AHMAD et al., 2014). Today, there are a lot of studies using activated/treated biochar as adsorbent material for removal of various contaminants.

Other authors point to the origin of research on biochar for its terminology, as a soil amendments.

Since biochar has been used as adsorbent and also activated/treated, what is your opinion about the difference between AC and BC?
