Dear Armando. According to the Humboldtian model of the university you are right- every university should be a storehouse of knowledge but according to the model of Senge I would suggest that only universities with the strong Third function (mission) could be analyzed as a kind of knowledge- based organization. I guess this is it the main concept of the prof. Leja's question and his hidden presupposition as well.
