Concentration of phosphate ions could be determined by spectrometry UV with a reaction between ammonium molybdate, potassium antimony tartrate and ascorbic acid. But I would know the reaction between these reagents. What complex is formed? and How is it formed?
Dear Mrs. Renamy, anions from phosphomolybdic acids have α-Keggin structure. When the blue is formed, this presents a big wheel structure of Mo154-type cluster. You are forming a 'phosphomolybdate complex' under acidic conditions. This complex may be oxidized by meta-vanadate or reduced with Stannous Chloride, Ascorbic Acid (with heat)... See APHA, and AOAC.
