Prior to development of detectability method of point count, we applied point count to investigate bird abundance and diversity following Hutto et al. 1986. So, birds were detected by sight or by sound as inside or outside 25 meters. This bird count method did not allow us to do the detectability estimation.
Is there any way this detection probability estimation problem can be soloved to get these data published? Thanks in advance!

People using distance sampling often bin distances (e.g., 0-25m, 25-50m, 50-100m), but I am guessing that 0-25 and >25m won't have much information on detection for you. However, if you visited sites multiple times within a season you may want to consider N-mixture models or other similar approaches. The unmarked package in R has some good documentation describing various options.

There are several options. Not sure how well they will work with inside vs. outside 25m as that is pretty small sampling area. One is to treat this as binomial distance sampling...

Alternatively, you could use conditional likelihood methods for single-visit data if that is what you have (??), but won't adust for distance related detecion error. I

I think data coming from censuses based on the 25 m band are still being published in journals. Of course it depends on what to you want to do with the data :D
