I have tried GC-HS for detection of ortho dichloro benzene (ODCB) in dye sample. But i didn't get peak of STD ODCB by GC-HS. So i cant quantify ODCB in dye. Will you suggest any method of GC-HS. So that i can develop method for
The Boiling point of ODCB is 180 degree so i hve dissolved the dye sample in N,N Dimethyl acetamide and then analyzed the sample in GC-HS. but ODCB peak was no confirm from GC-HS analysis.
I suspect the ODCB is too soluble in the dmac. Will the dye dissolve in water? Have you tried adding odcb to dmac and seeing if you get a peak by headspace GC?
You have a partition of odcb between the solvent and the atmosphere above the solvent. If the odcb is very soluble in the solvent it will not get into the atmosphere above the solvent.
Prepare the sample (ODCB plus the dye) in a water miscible solvent such as the one you are using dimethylacetamide or acetonitrile. Spike a few microlitres of it to 1-2 mL of deionized water in a vial with silicon septum. Heat to about 50 degrees. Do headspace solid-phase microextraction with PDMS or other fibre using a regular method for extraction and for GC.
