Dear researchers, could you please suggest me on how to inoculate or passage HSV-1 KOS viral strain to animal model like rat or rabbit?

I want to induce HSL in animal model experimentally to test the formulated samples. There are only few papers on the procedure and the protocols are not simple enough. If anyone has experience, do share the knowledge please?
