Hi, I've been isolating PBMC from fresh human blood for some years now. Lately I have been noticing a high percentage ( 15%) of trypan blue stained PBMC's immediately after isolation. Nothing has been changed, however I am suspecting either the Ficoll or our PBS may be causing this. Has anyone had this happen before and do you have any suggestions? Thanks
There is a recall on Percoll and some of the other separation media - we have also had issues in recent months. They have taken the word "sterile" off the label, as of one year ago.
We are looking for alternatives to Percoll separation for PBMC preps - any suggestions?
Hi Nicola, that's interesting to hear, I didn't know that. I did get a sample of of some beads which can be used to isolate PBMC's called BioFloaties, and apparently you can clean them, autoclave them and reuse them, but I haven't yet tried them. Do you have a link to anything about the recall on Percoll?
