Dear all,

for a new study we have information (i.e. data) about therapist (e.g., mean treatment duration, number of referrals, effect sizes of the treatment, drop-out, etc.). We want to explore whether there are certain subgroups of therapist. In other words, are there different types of therapists? E.g., therapist who treat their patients relatively short and quite effectively? Therapists who have a lot of drop-out but are rather effective for those patients who continue treatment, etcetera?

However, we are not sure about the best way to analyze these data. We think about (hierarchical?) cluster analysis, which seems suitable, but also includes multiple moments in which we as therapists have to make rather subjective decisions. Also the technique seems somewhat "old-fashioned".

So my question is, do you have any idea about the best way to analyze these data?

Are there more sophisticated ways to extract subgroups of therapists in an exploratory way?

Thank you very much!
