I scanned a clay specimen by using industry CT, and found that artificial darkening occur at the bottom and top of the specimen in the CT image. Is it affected by beam hardening? This CT uses cone beam.
Before scanning this clay specimen using CT, could you surround it by black region to avoid any frequency interference between upper and lower pixels. I say maybe this step of zero padding of the specimen contour would be sufficient to avoid these dark shadows. I'm not sure.
