I have been coating some plates with collagen. However, I experience crystal formation on my plates afterwards and I'm not sure what it is. Does anyone have similar experience or have any advice on what to do?
One study has reported that collagen oxidises when exposed to air, forming intramolecular cross-links. The exposure to air and prolongation of preservation can lead to further degradation of collagen fibril. You may want to refer to the paper attached below.

It is recommended to air dry collagen-coated culture ware and then storing it at 4°C in a sealed container that will help protect it from moisture. Under these conditions, the coated culture ware should remain stable for at least two weeks.
