1. Yes you can use UV but the mechanical properties goes down.
2. for chemical cross linking, take the nanofibrous mat in the closed container and the container should have corresponding cross linking chemical agent. as the agent vapourise and pass through the nanofiber mat cross linking happens. parameters you can vary in this process are time of treatment, temperature, distance between agent and nanofiber.
Genipin works quiet nicely and you can gain the fluorescence signal and use the same for microstructural analysis ( I may suggest my recent article:
