I'm starting to work on stent analysis. For crimping analysis I'm not sure what kind of boundaries will be preferable.(For both pressure controlled and displacement controlled). Also any efficient alternate method to carry out crimping?
As an example, supercapacitor cellcase is normally made with crimping, where the toplid with terminal sit in crimping is subjected to internal pressure. So we normally give standard contact( deformed independently) between cell case and toplid. With axisymmetric FE idealisation of structure, cellcase is axially constrained. Axially tie at some node between toplid and cellcase can be given to avoid rigid body motion. Then we can find the pressure at which toplid will open and coming out from crimping groove to find its capacity, for design.
