Good morning, everyone
Yesterday I was performing a manual miniprep. One of the steps consists of a 4ºC max speed (in my case 18.000 rpm) centrifugation for 10 min. When it was done, all of the eppendorfs were cracked in long thing lines in the bottom area. The liquid was not dripping or anything so I think it only broke on the outside, but still... this is the first time it has happened to me.
Does anyone know what it's due to? What is it some eppendorf tubes can't take? the 18.000 rpm? the 18.000 rpm + 4ºC?
I just want to know if this happened to someone else and how did they prevented it from happening in the future.
Thank you very much
PS: I tried to draw a scheme because when I was trying to take actual pictures of the tubes I couldn´t get any good picture. The cracks are very hard to see on a mobile phone picture.
