Hind Mufeed Ewadh, there are several PCR kits that can do this. Here is information from Idexx. Many cities in the United States and Australia are doing wastewater surveillance for COVID-19.
As J. Hunter Adams says, there are several PCR kits that can detect SARS-CoV-2 in wastewaters and are used for epidemiologic and surveillance purpoises.
There are different projects in various countries:
There is no evidence that COVID-19 can spread to people through water, including floodwater. Sometimes floodwater can mix with wastewater. CDC is not aware of any scientific reports of the virus being spread by swallowing or coming in contact with water contaminated by feces from an infected person.
The places we visit to swim, play, and relax in water include beaches — swim areas in oceans, lakes, and other natural bodies of water — and pools, water playgrounds, and hot tubs. There is no evidence that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can spread to people through water in these places.
Wastewater can be tested for RNA from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. While SARS-CoV-2 can be shed in the feces of individuals with COVID-19, there is no information to date that anyone has become sick with COVID-19 because of direct exposure to treated or untreated wastewater.
Ozone has been used for years for Corona virus inactivation in water and it does it at very low concentrations. However using ozone in untreated waste water is highly ineffective. I am not sure if there is a problem with Covid-19 in drinking water, as we have not seen any cases. If there are I will be happy to assist in demonstrating the most economical and effective way of inactivation of any viruses in water, including Covid-19.
Thank you for the interesting topic of discussion.
In Uttar Pradesh, India, dead bodies of patients who suffered from COVID were dumped in River Ganga. It was said that when these bodies reached West Bengal, the waters of some water bodies were having the Corona virus. I must mention here that I am not sure about this. I came to know these from some links, which I am sharing below.
The virus that causes COVID-19 has been found in untreated wastewater. Researchers do not know whether this virus can cause disease if a person is exposed to untreated wastewater or sewerage systems. There is no evidence to date that this has occurred. At this time, the risk of transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19 through properly designed and maintained sewerage systems is thought to be low.
Fact: Water or swimming does not transmit the COVID-19 virus
The COVID-19 virus does not transmit through water while swimming. However, the virus spreads between people when someone has close contact with an infected person.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) advice for the public: Mythbusters
Currently, there is no evidence about the survival of the COVID-19 virus in drinking-water or sewage. The morphology and chemical structure of the COVID-19 virus are similar to those of other human coronaviruses for which there are data about both survival in the environment and effective inactivation measures.Mar 19, 2020
