In the preparation of composite materials to join two different materials some kind of coupling agents are used. Are there any other alternative ways to join two different materials for example plastic and wood.
Dear Anthati Suresh, generally for porous substances such as wood (flower), in situ polymerization is the best alternative, i.e., monomer soakd filler is polymerized where polymerization starts inside the particles (outside is also occuring), and chains growth outside them meeting the continuous polymer matrix. This is in brief the strategy to avoid using coupling agents. My Regards
Here we do not never said polymerization?????????? But we said coupling (wood+plastic).here we used (NaclO+Acetic acid) as catalyst at 25°c in 3 Hours. not in situ as schow (Abdelkader bouaziz)??????????????????????
Dear Anthati Suresh, in case the in situ polymerization strategy interests you, I invite you to take a look at the following sample documents. My Regards
not in situ polymerization or another form of polymerization ???????????????? NEVER ?????????????????????. I am pecalist in polymer chemistry ( synthesis and characterization) .
Dear Anthati Suresh, in case you are dealing with plastics-wood sheets, then you need an adhesive or a glue to make a sandwich composite. If it is the case, there no place to use the terminology 'coupling agents, which is a chemical compound that acts at the interface between naturally different systems. In-situ polymerization is a classical way to avoid the use of coupling agents and other chemicals and special mixing equipments, to prepare intimate contact between generally incompatible substances. My Regards
Dear Anthati Suresh, in case you are working on sandwich composites, I strongly advise you to use cyanoacrylates adhesives, they are very efficient in making tight joints, again by a polymerization reaction initiated by water. My Regards
