My objective is the identification of fluid inclusions by the use of Lasrer Raman Microspectrometer (LRM) 532 nm , in thin sections of Carbonates rocks (Hydrothermal Origin). The raman spectra show a pic at 1332 cm-1 as shown in the attached sprectra . Could it be the Diamond band ? Thank you in advance !

First you should improve the quality of your spectrum. There are needed remeasurements in order to exclude from the interference curve. Second, you should improve the S/N ratio.
Hello, diamond band is very sharp with bandwidth of few wavenumbers. In your case, it may be something from carbon which have broad band around 1300 cm-1. In addition, your spectra show some interference fringes.

I received files. It looks like you have too much power at the sample because intensity of main peak of Calcite at 1086 cm-1 is exceed 64000 counts. Please, use, hole size 100 microns, 10 s will be OK but with ND filter D2. You have to use always ICS correction ON it will apply intensity correction of CCD and grating efficiencies. When you collected data with x100 objective, intensity is very sensitive to the Z. So, once you get optical focus, reset Z counter in LabSpect 5. Once you get intensity of some band using RTD (Real Time Display), try to change Z and maximize intensity of the Raman peak. Once you get max signal, keep monitor signal. If you will see that intensity will changed over the time, it means that you burn already sample or you starting to bleach photolumunescence.
It will be better to start form low laser power.

So many bands of various substances are observed in this region -
that OF COURSE this peak certainly should be assigned to the inclusion,
but the chemical nature of this inclusion - can not be determined - because
too many substances absorb in this region.
the peak at 1332 can be attributed to diamond, but here it is very weak. With the laser 632 nm it is strong enough. Are you sure that you the sample was not polished? Some polishing powders are made of rough diamond. Pietro Baraldi
