Since the Blue Sea star is sensitive to changes in pH, temperature and the like, could it be possible that the starfish's physiological changes may indicate the state of its ecosystem? This is just for a topic proposal for my senior thesis.

Dear Lucille,
From a personal experience, I spotted this particular species in many reef systems with, at first sight, very contrasted disturbance status. But this does not imply a lack of differential physiological responses.
