I am looking for detailed descriptions of the different types of acritarchs that can be found on Earth before -1 Ga. I am especially interested in the transitional periods, where some types appear and others disappear.
Unfortunately, there are not many useful Recent review papers ... However, the paper by Vorob'eva et al., published half a year ago, shows a lot of different (Mesoproterozoic) acritarch types ... Best wishes, Mike
Vorob'eva, N.G.; Sergeev, V.N. & Petrov, P.Y. (2015): Kotuikan Formation assemblage: A diverse organic-walled microbiota in the Mesoproterozoic Anabar succession, northern Siberia. Precambrian Research 256: 201-222.
The Proterozoic biodiversity pattern of Achritarch is presented in the work of Webby et al. (2012). they interpret several papers which presented many taxa of Proterozoic Achritarch and global correlation, paleogeographic evidence, extinction of index taxa, stratigraphic distribution and change in morphological characteristic are the main interpretation of Webby et al. (2012) link below:
I propose the Knoll et al. (2006 ) which mentioned to biodiversity of Proterozoic organisms. by the study you can find relationship between global species distribution and stratigraphic significant during the Proterozoic.
Thank you for your answers and proposals. I found a copy of Vorob'eva et al. (2015), but unfortunately Vidal and Moczydłowska-Vida (1997) is not in open access, could you get me the PDF Mike Reich?
Unfortunately I can't find a copy of the book "The Proterozoic Biosphere" where I live. Google books provides some pages but not a complete PDF : https://books.google.fr/books?hl=fr&lr=&id=jMPfQoFNr-IC&oi=fnd&pg=PA22&dq=%22The+Proterozoic+Biosphere%22&ots=s3fcXLGYgi&sig=ozJdeKCxUW9nIhhsoULDD_ICNbQ#v=onepage&q=%22The%20Proterozoic%20Biosphere%22&f=false
I also found Knoll's papers very usefull and instructive.
To me its better first determine what exactly you want(i.e. which age)? Then there will be number of references and you access them very easily through internet.
I have a colleague who is very expert in Paleozoic acritarchs which is named Jafar Sabouri ([email protected]). it is better to contact him, otherwise there are other experts as other colleagues suggested you such as: Schopf, Vecoli, Paris, Sergeev, Steemans, Knoll,...
