Keratocystic odontogenic tumor and ameloblastoma are similar in radiological pictures. the effective preoperative differential diagnosis between these 2 tumors could help surgeons plan treatment because ameloblastomas require resection and keratocystic odontogenic tumors can be treated with enucleation.
Could the MRI by using diffusion-weighted imaging do as incisional biopsy to differentiate between keratocystic tumor and ameloblastoma? If the answer is yes, how?
Not as accurate as Biopsy results, but still MRI could be an useful tool in differentiating KCOT from ameloblastoma. Not in all cases though.

Briefly, KCOTs and ameloblastoma have a similar radilogical features( using conventional OPG and CT or MRI). Recently,diffusion weighted MRI technology reported to their ability to differentiate between KCOT and amelobalstoma preoperative to make an clinician to his/her treatment planning .Thus could this MRI image confirm a definitive diagnosis between this lesions ?
Concerning the best treatment option for KCOTs, I have been working to published an papers according to evidence based decisions . Agreed with enucleation has the least chance of recurrence.
KCOT can be well treated with Enucleation followed by physicochemical cauterization.
