Hello Marco; Some small bats produce echolocation calls that have harmonics above 200,000 hz. At the other end of the spectrum some whales and elephants produce infrasound rumbling at around 50 hz. In the case of the elephants these sounds are evidently transmitted through the ground. My memory and lit. resources are limited at the monent so I can't recite the amplitude of the sounds. Best regards, Jim Des Lauriers
Bioacoustic being based on the propagation of sound waves, they would need a material medium to reach any detection instrument, unlike other electromagnetic waves such as the ones used by radio-satellites. Depending on where you consider "space" is starting, wouldn't the atmosphere be too thin to transmit sounds well enough?
