the Big Five Personality Test (also known as the Five Factor Model).
he test should ideally measure the following dimensions:
1. Openness to Experience
2. Conscientiousness
3. Extraversion
4. Agreeableness
5. Neuroticism

1. NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI)
Developed by: Paul Costa and Robert McCrae.

The NEO-PI provides an in-depth look at the five major dimensions and is available in several versions, including the NEO-PI-R, which comprises 240 questions and offers detailed insights into the Five Factor dimensions. NEO-FFI: A shorter, 60-item version focusing on the broad Big Five dimensions.
Dimensions:
- Neuroticism (N)
- Extraversion (E)
- Openness to Experience (O)
- Agreeableness (A)
- Conscientiousness (C)
2. Big Five Inventory (BFI)
Developed by: Oliver John and colleagues.
A shorter, user-friendly test commonly used in research settings. The BFI is a 44-item questionnaire that is widely available and has been validated in a variety of cultures.
Dimensions:
- Neuroticism (N)
- Extraversion (E)
- Openness to Experience (O)
- Agreeableness (A)
- Conscientiousness (C)
3. International Personality Item Pool (IPIP)
This is a public domain collection of personality tests and items, with versions available that measure the Big Five traits.
Features: Available for free use and can be adapted for different research needs. One of the most popular tests within the IPIP framework is the 50-item test.
Dimensions:
Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness, like other Big Five tests.
4. The Big Five Aspect Scales (BFAS)
Developed by: Colin DeYoung, and others.
A more granular version of the Big Five, this test looks at the two underlying aspects of each domain.
Example: Extraversion is subdivided into assertiveness and enthusiasm, and Neuroticism is split into volatility and withdrawal.
Dimensions:
Each of the five traits is further broken down into two specific facets.
5. Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI)
Developed by: Oliver John and Sanjay Srivastava.
Overview: A very brief 10-item questionnaire, designed for quick and general Big Five assessments. It is beneficial when a brief and easy-to-administer tool is required (e.g., surveys or large sample studies).
Dimensions:
- Each of the five traits is assessed with two items.
6. Big Five Inventory for Adolescents (BFI-A)
An adaptation of the BFI, specifically designed for adolescents. This version is designed to assess how personality traits develop during adolescence.
Dimensions:
Same as the Big Five, but with modifications to make the language more suitable for younger individuals.
