I am working on a multi-site study and have a few scripts to convert the dicoms to nifitis (in BIDs format). However, one of our sites uses a GE scanner and its dicoms are not aliased correctly so the nifiti formats are not being outputed correctly for EPI and DWI sequences. Therefore, I have to use the p-files from GE scanners, but I do not know of a way to convert them to dicoms. Does anyone know of software or have a script to convert the p-files to dicoms?
This is important so I can harmonize this site with other one and run everything through the same pipelines. I need to convert these p-files to dicoms not nifitis.
P-files are the raw k-space data files for GE. Converting these to DICOM is not trivial. The file format is proprietary and even once you succeed in reading the data the reconstruction is likely involved. If you have an Orchestra license from GE, I think you can get Matlab code from GE to at least read the p-files, maybe more, but it does not sound like you are a GE user (neither am I).
With Siemens k-space data, it is possible to reload the data onto the scanner and reconstruct it there. While I don't know for sure, I imagine the same sort of thing can be done on a GE scanner. So I think your best bet is to have the site that provided the data ,try to do that. They can probably get GE to help.
I am sure there are groups developing their own recon code for GE data, but the most likely place for them to share their code would be the Orchestra website and I think you need a license from GE to access that.
Indeed, if you have Orchestra then you should be able to do the conversion yourself.
