Hi everyone,
We recently conducted a qualitative study involving adolescent patients (13-16 y/o) at a pediatric clinic.
We categorized the transcribed interview material and presented the findings (e.g. categories and subcategories) to the clinic staff during a seminar. A summarized version of the findings was also emailed to the study participants.
Now, what would you call this approach/process?
Would it be considered a “triangulation”? or more of a “confirmation of analysis/results”?
Also, where in the manuscript do you think it is more suitable to describe this process? i) at the end of “analysis” in the method section of the paper, or, ii) in the “strengths and limitations” section of the discussion?
If the participants or clinic staff would have questioned or disagreed with the findings, we would probably have re-evaluated the analysis.
On the other hand, this approach can also be considered a strength as it speaks to the credibility and transferability of study findings.
Thanks!
