Genus is simply defined as a group of related species. Precisely it is a distinct monophyletic taxon with related species group. However, it cannot be derived on a cladogram or dendrogram because it is not a natural classification.

In nature only individuals occur, broadly speaking only species occur. Taxonomists group related species under a type species to define a 'genus'.

Is there any ecological supplement to define a genus ?

If so please discuss. Regards
