I am going to set up an in vitro bacterial survivability experiment. To do this, I have to make an artificial environment like human nasal mucus. Major components of mucus are large glycoproteins called mucins and inorganic salts suspended in water.

I already bought commercial mucin (porcine stomach type 2) from Sigma-Aldrich. It is soluble in 1 M NaOH (20 mg/mL).

I do not know the average concentration of mucin in human or animal nasal mucus. I searched literature a bit about this but unable to get exact answer.

It would be a great help for me if somebody share information about this or give me some evidence.

Kind Regards

Zohorul
