In a small acreage organic farms, the use of compost help to reduce the need of chemical fertilizers, retain moisture, add micronutrients and increase microbes activity.
Using compost in farm operations increases moisture retention, reduces pests and diseases affecting plants, thus reducing the need for pesticides/herbicides and fertilizers. It helps rebuild soil structure and does provide nutrients.
