I could not find the original work I had in mind initially, but check the references under this summary article. I vaguely remember that there was an experiment where different ethnic groups were asked to control moisture and temperature in an experiment room to see if there would be differences in the perception of 'ideal' climate. Beyond finding that there're likely aren't - it gave a hint on what ideal temperature is for all of huamns.
