I have just started exploring Reddit, and I believe it holds great potential for broadcasting research results and published papers.
However, it is not simple to use and there sheer amount of communities (and associated rules & etiquette, culture) is mind-blowing.
I'd like to hear from colleagues who have experimented communicating their research results and lab group: strategies, impressions, feedback?

I have just posted a raw promoting link on reddit communities /science and /ants. A peak of viewers soon followed (accumulated ca. 2h later). [Hope it shows in attached image]
Looks promising, but I have my doubts. (i) will such views reflect in better acceptance of my paper, e.g. more citations?; (ii) how can I write actual text on a link promotion post to reddit; (iii) how can I improve the quality of my reddit experience.
Anyone else has had experiences? Please share, also with ideas.
I don't have any experience using Reddit for research sharing. However, it appears to benefit from some aspects related to SEO for manuscript promotion. Maybe if you explore distinct subreddits and use high-trending keywords, you could enhance your outreach. Also, providing a more accessible content to your post (not only a raw promoting link), with a back link to the article in the journal, can help attract people to your manuscript.
Regarding the increase of citations: that is a good point. Not necessarily, I think. But I see Reddit as a great opportunity for science communication and community outreach, which is, by itself, as valuable as citations.
