Enough cannot be done to honour this great author. I call upon researchers to come together and sponsor young African writers who will continue representing our African identity. There isn't enough enthusiasm for our cause: we sit quietly observing new African authors as they adopt Western styles and themes. We want another Okonkwo, and we need more African English.
Everything has a good and a bad side. Yes, we need authors who write about our culture, but we do not need Okonkwo's murders. Killing the white man's messenger means such a person would incite the murder of Europeans who manage the oil fields in Nigeria. Can you advise how we can train and encourage post-colonial cultural novelists like Achebe?
