my goal is to study the catalytic oxidation of catechol using novel thiosemicarbazones in complexes prepared in situ.
So I start by preparing the mother solutions
I prepared in methanol the following solutions :
- The substrate (3,5-di-tert-butyl catechol) solution: [S]=1.10-2 ---7.10-2 , Volume =10 ml; N=1.10-4 ----7.10-4 mol.
- Lignad/Metallic Salt solutions: C= 1.10-4 , Volume:=100 ml ; N= 1.10-5 mol.
I took 1 ml of each solution
1 ml of metallic salt (N= 10-7 mol)+ 1 ml Ligand (N= 10-7 mol) + 1 ml Substrate (N=10-5 -----7.10-5 mol), these were mixed all together in a quartz cuvette and put into the UV-vis spectrophotometer programmed to measure absorbance each 5 mins for 1 hour (lambda= 400 nm).
The rates were calculated using this formula: (1/epsilon)*(delta A / delta t)
which kinetic model is applicable here ? or none ?
am I doing anything wrong which could mess up the experiment ?
And what would you suggest ?
