I'm making a presentation on the cancer drug resistance mechanisms in major drugs. I want to include major/representative cancer drugs. I'm thinking about including MAPK inhibitors and TKI inhibitors. What other representative/major drugs would you recommend that I include?
You should take a closer look at cell cycle arrest induced by such drugs as vinblastine, vinorelbine, vincristine (Vinca alkaloids), paclitaxel, etoposide etc. - the cell cycle arresting agents. During cell cycle arrest most cancer cell get drug resistant to the applied drug and give rise to daughter ones, which inherit this resistance (according to Sir. D. Wheatley). Just google Wheatley, Craig, Erenpreisa, Lootsik - these are the pioneers in this area. + drug resistance inheritance is linked with tubulin and actin polymerization, increased mitochondrial activity and respiration, as well as cell enlargement (termed as giant cancer cell, giant cell formation). You will find a lot of links to p53, p21, E2F, cytochrome c, as well as mitochondrial fission/fusion proteins (Drp1, Fis1, Mfn1, Mfn2 etc.). Good luck with Your presentation.

You may also include cisplatin, we have recently theorized how cisplatin resistance develops and these general mechanisms surely apply to most, if not all, anticancer drugs (see Galluzzi et al, Oncogene 2012)
I totally agree with you Lorenzo. When I tested lymphona NK/Ly cells for drug resistance, they were more resistant to a second injection of cisplatine than doxorubicin, paclitaxel or vinblastine. I was pretty surprised that an anticancer drug like cisplatine did not deliver what I expected from it. Furthermore, when co-treating these cells first with vinblastine and doxorubicin/cisplatine after, cisplatine injections (even the allowed maximum for a mouse) seemed to be useless. I was pretty disappointed by the effect of cisplatine.
