Organic fertilizers has a number of shortcomings, including low nutrient content, slow decomposition, and different nutrient compositions depending on its organic materials, compared to chemical fertilizers. However, organic manure has multiple benefits due to the balanced supply of nutrients, including micronutrients, increased soil nutrient availability due to increased soil microbial activity, the decomposition of harmful elements, soil structure improvements and root development, and increased soil water availability.
With application of organic fertilizers, there is every possibility that nutrients will not be available in bulk , as it happens in case of inorganic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers release nutrients at a much slower rate compared to inorganic fertilizers. This is the reason , organic fertilizers are able to maintain the nutrients availability for a much extended period , and , thereby , ensure much higher dry matter accumulation vis-a-vis crop yield, depending upon soil moisture and other agro-pedological conditions including the varieties grown....
In my own view, the availability of N,P and K would be at a slower rate supporting the submission of Dr. Anoop Kumar Srivastava.
