We have a compound being analyzed on our LC/MS.  Positive ionization mode, Electrospray ionization, reverse phase HPLC chromatography, mobile phase modifiers of formic acid and ammonium format.

The expected mass is 238 and the actual mass is 178.  The NMR analysis is good so we think the structure is correct.

I see some references in the literature to unwanted fragmentation that is caused by the ionization conditions.  Where can I learn more?

Thank you,

Kevin
