I am currently working on calculation of landscape metrics using Patch Analyst. Studied area is quite large (approx. 3800 sq. km, vector data) with more than 230 regions and calculation of statistics by region takes very very long time with average usage of processor around 18%. Can you recommend any other similar software which supports multithreading and batch processing?
I would recommend Fragstats, but as it is was not developed that recently (1995) I think it can't handle multithreading, I'm not sure tho. Maybe R language alongside the parallel library could help you with that, but you would need to write down your own functions. There is also this online class on Landscape Metrics that maybe could give you better insight in the subject. I would also like to know such a software, if you find it, please let me know. Just stumbled upon this: "The Patch Analyst (link is external), an Esri extension, contains many of the Fragstat metrics. There is also a stand alone version that can be downloaded." Hope it helps.

Yes, I know that. Also Fragstats. My main concern is the multithreading and performance when computing metrics. Large datasets are taking long time to process. Anyway, thank you for your interest in this issue!
