as per my opinion

Roughly based on my 20 years experience i can say, Erdas imagine is very good for raster analysis whereas Arc GIS is vector good for vector analysis.

Saman, I suppose you refer to the comparison of only these software to be used in geographical investigations. If so, in my opinion I would place them in the following order: Surfer: powerful, simple, professional and with useful tools, above all, for spatial vector analysis. AutoCAD map: powerful, professional and with useful tools for fundamentally vectorial spatial analysis. MicroStation: simple, varied and with useful tools for spatial analysis. ER Mapper: powerful, professional and with useful tools for spatial analysis, but fundamentally for images.
