Packet Loss Ratio is the rate at which information is not sent through the network. If a network becomes congested and there is good discipline, packets may queue up at the source and never enter the network. Those packets will not contribute to throughput, but because they are never sent, won't affect the PDR at all. Generally, packet Loss, has four main causes: 1.Link Congestion, 2. Device Performance (either router, Switch, Firewall,,,etc). , 3. Software issue on a network device like a bugs. 4. Faulty cabling or Hardware.

The packet delivery ratio= successfully received/ (successfully recieved + lost packets) where the total sent packets = successfully received + lost packets. Do you want to discuss the conditions of the wsn to increase this ratio? If this is the case then you can enhance this ratio by:
Increasing the queuing puffers in the sensor nodes,
Increasing the signal to noise ratio of wireless links between the nodes
Increasing the data rate of the links by increasing the available bandwidth.

The packets could be considered lost if they arrive beyond the acceptable duration or collide with other packets or are corrupted by the channel noises etc.
