Anyway, yes, I believe a weighing lysimeter is essentially like a soil monolith lysimeter. You'll find lots of water quality studies using soil monolith lysimeters.

Just be careful that the constituent in the water you're analyzing doesn't interact with the material of the lysimeter.
The surface and subsurface runoff collected from a lystimeter can be used to measure dissolved chemical including nutrients, pesticiDes and other soluble organic compounds Given the necessary laboratory analysis tools. the biggest source of surface water polution is sediment, and the small surface area and likely low gradient of most lysimters will not be adequate to address surface erosion and sediment delivery. Many pollutants are attached to eroded sediments, and they will not accurately measured with a weighing lysimiter. If you have a porous cup lysimeter, it will only collect soil water samples to measure soluble chemicals in the soil water.

A lysimeter is a tool designed to model water circulations in the soil. This tool is not perfect, as it oversimplifies the complexity of the subsurface. However, it can be useful for a first approximation of water flows. Regarding water quality issues, a lysimeter is even less accurate, because it does not reproduce well the physical and chemical reactions inside the soil (adsorption, oxidation, humic complexes, etc.).
A lysimeter is used for measuring evapotranspiration, water balance in soil and environment, evaluating crop water use efficiency and nutrients, and chemicals that leach into the soil, especially from farm areas where pesticides and fertilizers are being applied. From your question, I believe that to an extent we can use a lysimeter to get an idea of the quality of water that the plant uses because the movement of this water within the root zone is different from the movement into the water table or aquifer. However, to determine what the groundwater quality will be like, I do not subscribe to using a lysimeter.
