Dear researchers,
I would be gratitude if you tell me whether we can use labels in training data of the SOM clustering or not. I want to train a som neural network, but I do not know that whether i must remove labels form the training data or not.

SOM is used for unsupervised learning but in R, there is a package called kohonen written by Ron Wehrens that provides supervised SOM. You may check the application and related paper.

labels can be used in self organising map. refer Fasset and zaurada book. I don't know the exact spelling of author name
SOM uses a unsupervised learning method. It is posible to put labels. In such caeses, they are convined with a linear neural layer. The final NN is called LVQ.
