We have currently have successfully completed a Cluster Randomized Trial in Rural India. The prevalence of anemia among children less than 5 years of age reported in the baseline is much higher than the national status. So, my aim is to identify if the environment and social factors determine the anemic child in rural setting. Can I, use the individual participants data to see if environment and social factors role on Hb level from a cluster RCT?
Hi Paul,
reported national status of anaemia among children highly probably includes also cities and not only rural India. Also I do not expect existing of national registry of anaemias therefore the national data are also highly probably coming from some study and probably also with cluster randomization.
Therefore it is not clear if wrong (biased) was your study or stude related with estimation of the national prevalence of anaemia among children?
Therefore you may try to find risk factors in your data. If you do it of course you should use your baseline estimate as reference.
But in any paper you should mention difference from the published national status of anaemia among children and try to explain it.
