For higher power supplies, we use power MOSFET whose characteristics and principle is almost same that of MOSFET but to accommodate higher power levels(current and voltage), its construction is slightly different from that of a normal MOSFET.

Power MOSFET can also be used for power supply upto few 100's of volts whereas a low power MOSFET is able to handle a few volts of voltage supply.

Would be cheaper to use low power capacity MOSFET, could refer manufacturers manual for details….

Check the maximum possible operating voltage stress(vt) on your mosfet through simple simulation, then select mosfet with higher rated voltage level than vt.

Specillay in the power applications ,current and operating frequency also need to be considered.

Therefore,please check the mosfet's data sheet carefully.
